Disability Claims Lawyer – Returning to the Workplace

Patients who are recovering from a traumatic accident may want to return to work as quickly as they can. However, a severe disability will affect the abilities of a person to return to work.

Many of our clients have been successful with regaining strength after their accidents. In some cases, our clients express a wish to return to work. We request that they speak to a medical professional before this happens.

Your Condition after a Disability Claim

You may not know, but the state of your mental and physical health need to be assessed in order for you to gain the opportunities afforded to you when you were healthy. At this point, you should not assume your body is well enough to control the stressors of work. You may end up dealing with overwhelming mental and physical stimulation.

Long Term Disability Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation takes a long time. Government programs have been created to make sure you return to work in a fashion that is suitable to your condition. If you are looking for extra support, this link may help – it is support from the ontario government for employment purposes in connections with ODSP. There are also a number of agencies that will help you return to work..

Your Right to ODSP

If you are found ineligible for ODSP Employment Supports or your Employment Supports has been cancelled or suspended:

  • You have the right to request a review of the decision.
  • You must submit a letter to your local Employment Supports office outlining the reasons why you feel the decision made by the local office is incorrect.

Your Ability to Work

If your physician recommends a neuropsychological evaluation, you must abide by these rules in order to receive assistance from the proper programs. Our preference is that you continue to seek out opportunities by-the-book. Otherwise, your long term disability benefits may not help if you happen to get in an accident at work, or again.
