According to the Government of Canada’s Canadian Centre of Occupation Health and Safety, 30% of all paid disability benefits are linked to mental-illness claims. In November, 2017, SSQ introduced their health and wellness program: Health Insight. This program was developed after many workplace managers raised concerns about tangible solutions for employees being absent due to mental health issues.

With a comprehensive range of disability benefits, SSQ provides their group benefits policy holders with several different educational collateral to ensure that the employees, who are receiving insurance benefits, have reference material to understand their complete insurance policy and coverage. If you are receiving group benefits from SSQ Insurance, make sure you have and can refer to the designated insurance booklet which provides full details on your coverage. In the “Expenses Covered” section, you can see the full applicable terms of reimbursement for a specific claim (online you can find both of these tools under Your Coverage section on the home page.)

SSQ also provides an online simulator for a claim. What this allows you to do is quickly simulate a claim to project the total amount that you will be receiving in benefits once your claim is, hypothetically, approved. This does not guarantee that your SSQ long-term disability claim, SSQ mental-illness disability claim, or your SSQ unemployment insurance claim will be approved.

This simulator’s regurgitated insight is based on the idea that your claim is approved, but in fact, many SSQ disability insurance holders find themselves saying “SSQ denied my claim!”

Long-Term Disability Denied

If you are receiving SSQ Disability Insurance from your employer, and have found that your SSQ long-term disability, SSQ short-term disability, SSQ mental-illness disability, SSQ unemployment insurance, or any other SSQ claim has been denied, we urge you to contact a long-term disability (ltd) attorney now. Given that TSF Law works on a contingency fee basis, it will be no loss to you to contact a knowledgeable and invested disability insurance lawyer. Members of our legal team can thoroughly look over your claim and give you a honest and supportive insight on whether you may be entitled to your full disability coverage, and further possibly seek damages for the mental and physical stress a denied claim can have on someone who is dealing with a sudden encumbering situation.

What is in the Future?

As per RBC Insurance forecasts, 2018 will be bringing close to a 5% increase in the rate of long-term disability incidences. This is due to a growing economy in Canada, and the employment rate going up. During strong economic activity, employees succumb to further emotional and physical stress, exposing them to illness and fatigue which can result in injury. It is important to take proper leave when you need it in order to avoid prolonged disability. The more you push yourself, the longer it will take to recover.

While SSQ tries to be a very health and wellness conscious insurance provider, they’re ruling over a claim is not always correct. Do not settle with a denied claim, nor fret that your safety net of social and financial support has disappeared. If you find yourself facing a denied claim from SSQ Insurance, contact us today. It will only be a working asset in your pursuit of YOUR standards to health and wellness.
